This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are advancing quickly in their reading levels. I want to challenge them with a chapter book we read together.
We will use these books during our read aloud.
If each student has a book, they can follow along and begin to track the smaller print, longer pages, and fewer illustrations in chapter books. This will help students of all levels access chapter books.
Having the book in our hand allows my students to learn new, multisyllabic words and their spelling patterns as they transition to 3rd grade level vocabulary, word study, and phonics. It allows higher level readers a transition to harder chapter books and allows lower level readers to begin accessing the format and differences they will see in chapter books as they progress.
