This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love to hear my students respond to my cheers.
I say, "Class, class?" and my students respond, "Yes, yes!"
I say, "Hocus pocus!" and my students say, "Time to focus!"
I love to see their faces light up when they hear that and respond with a confident and strong chorus.
I am teaching 2nd grade, and love it every day with these wonderful students. Every day with them is an adventure and filled with love and understanding. I work at a Title I school where most of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Providing my students with this opportunity will increase their cognitive understanding.
My Project
Second grade is the sweet spot when it comes to reading. Students have acquired enough skills to work independently but are still full of wonder and curiosity. Our 2nd graders will love these fantastic chapter books and will get them hooked on reading. As 2nd graders gain confidence and skills with reading, every book they read helps improve fluency and comprehension. Second graders continue to develop their literacy skills as they learn more complex words and absorb longer, more rigorous texts in a variety of genres including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. These books will be a great addition to our growing books study.
