This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students are often reluctant to read if they feel like what they're reading is not interesting or "cool" like chapter books.
This project will help to get chapter books into the hands of beginning readers so they can feel the success of reading a "book".
Students will be so engaged in reading interest-based chapter books that are decodable and can be read by beginning readers who may need a little more time to catch on to reading. Once students know they can, they will! Also, the extension work will help send home connected work to families to practice the skills they are currently working on.
