My project needs 11 books on photography and 30 disposable cameras for my students to explore photos that changed the world and engage in a creation of their own photographs.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. R.'s classroom raised $352
This project is fully funded
I teach a gifted class in a high-need community in inner-city Miami. My students are free-and-reduced lunch students and live in neighborhoods with crime, drugs, and poverty. My kids are grades 2 through 6, and they live in a high-risk neighborhood, but have high-potential to succeed and make a difference in their communities and families.
I teach elementary school in a neighborhood where students are not given opportunities to be imaginative, creative children. The school has a low budget, and most of my kids have never used a camera. My project incorporates writing, reading, and social studies into photography and art. My students will have an opportunity to be creative and unique through their writing and their photographs, while engaging in social studies and history. They will also be able to make a difference in their neighborhood with this project!
For this project, "Change YOUR World," students will research and write about a historical photograph that changed the world. We will then study creativity and originality in photography together as a class. The final aspect is the students' opportunity to create a photograph that will change THEIR world! They are to take one photograph, write about it, and display it professionally for the school telling how their photograph could and WILL change their neighborhood! My students will need a class book with rich photographs showing impactful, historical photography, a "textbook" explaining the creative process behind photographs, and a disposable camera for them to create and explore.
YOU will make it possible for my students to realize their own possibilities. With your support, my students will integrate writing, reading, social studies, AND art in an individualized project that will make a difference in their crime-filled, impoverished neighborhoods.
