My Students
My students are multi cultural and are different in so many ways but then yet again so similar. I am the Special Education resource room teacher who assists special needs students on their difficulty accessing the least restrictive environment (general education classroom).
At times, they just require a listening ear, compassion and other times they need to sharpen their skills to compete with their peers.
My classroom was a safe place to "let their hair down" and shoot for the stars but unfortunately, our school has closed due to COVID - 19, therefore, today remote learning is the NEW way we learn.
My Project
Since I am now teaching in the "remote" world, I need a way that my students can have a full view of what I am teaching. Working on a computer and viewing(on a laptop/phone camera) what is being taught has become very difficult for my students. They have a wide variety of needs and their attention span is often quite short. I need to have many hands on activities and with these cameras my students will get a wide angle view of new topics being taught and they will assist as a second pair of hands. Holding my students attention will only benefit their educational goals. It is very hard to use a standard desktop that does not have a camera with full views of the area in which I teach from.
I have so many lessons (especially math)that require me to model/draw the examples and these cameras will be a great enhancement to my teaching.
My students are visual learners who benefit from modeling new topics. It has been a challenge for everyone involved in this new way of teaching our special education children.
Also this teachers pay teachers gift card will give myself more opportunity to explore and share with my students exciting new lessons from experienced educators from all over the world.
I try my best to make every day I teach the most exciting, and engaging as possible. With these cameras it would make my challenge to succeed that much easier!
