My students need more challenging literature such as Phantom Tollbooth with accompanying L-I-T guide and classroom guide to expand their knowledge in reading, vocabulary, writing, listening, speaking and presentation skills.
Remember your curiosity as a child? Wasn't it an amazing feeling to discover and learn new things? These are the things my students in class are experiencing each day. Learning comes alive for them and they discover new ideas that they can share with each other, their family and their friends.
Our school is a Title I school with children from a variety of cultural backgrounds as well as social and economical needs.
Our gifted and talented program is currently working without a budget. My students come into my classroom eager to learn and try new out-of-the-box activities. Students come from several classes and different grade levels. My students are highly gifted and include autistic students as well as twice exceptional students. They are highly motivated and love to explore and learn new things. In our classroom, we work together in small groups, individually and as a whole group. Students crave to discover new and exciting things in reading, writing, and math.
My Project
My students need more challenging literature such as Phantom Tollbooth with accompanying L-I-T guide and classroom guide to expand their knowledge in reading, vocabulary, writing, listening, speaking and presentation skills. The Phantom Tollbooth novels will help our class meet most of our important English Language Arts objectives. This novel takes readers on a journey through magical lands of literary devices and whimsical wonders. As students read the novel they will be challenged with citing textual evidence to determine literary elements, using context clues to understand vocabulary, and writing to interpret and evaluate different critical perspectives in the story. The Phantom Tollbooth Literature guides will help me to continue to challenge my students beyond their grade level to keep them motivated and encourage them to continue learning at their highest potential.
As Walt Disney would say "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
This quote sums up what my students are doing each day.
If my students can continue to learn new things and be challenged in new things, then these experiences will help shape their lives and build new leaders for our future.
