Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Gifted students need to be pushed, and this is the perfect way for them to step up to the plate and give it their all! Most of the resources allocated at our school go to the lower students, not the higher ones. These students deserve just as much love and attention as those less academically gifted. And for those students flying just under the radar of gifted, this is the push they need to get them into the program!

My students have been with me for three years. I have looped up with them from 3rd grade to 5th grade. These students have seen my classroom library. Yes, it has grown. But, it does need some help during these trying economic times. The 20 books are in our school library, but they are restricted to only gifted kids checking them out. The rest of my class misses out on this wonderful opportunity to stretch their imaginations, vocabulary, and background knowledge. They deserve to read these books, too!

If I had at least one book of the Reader's Rally books available for students, all students, to read in my classroom, then they could all have a chance to compete with one another, discuss, challenge, and participate in a year long program that will stimulate their minds.

With your help, my students and our school has a fighting chance at winning Reader's Rally and getting the recognition they deserve! Please, give these underprivileged students a chance to show the community and their peers just how far a 5th grader can go!!
