Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves a diverse and urban population full of passionate and creative thinkers and learners. In Advanced Placement Literature & Language, we are proud to have students from various backgrounds who are multiple language-learners and who will be first generation college students.
My Advanced Placement Literature and Language students have studied beyond the average student to attain this level of course work and are eager to be academically competitive.
My Project
Beloved by Toni Morrison allows students to learn about the incomparable legacy of Toni Morrison, analyze her complicated artistry, and confront the reality of slavery's aftermath. The spiraling narrative and the use of flashback and multiple perspectives is a crucial element for students to understand how a novel can tell many stories at the same time.
Having a class set of the novel, Beloved, by Toni Morrison allows students to have the best possible introduction to the African American women who shaped American literature.
This novel is also a noted source of questions on the AP exam, which students take in May.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
