This year, I am working with a great bunch of 1st graders! In my class, I have 27 of the brightest and best (at least I think so)! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorChoose comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.
My Project
I teach a bunch of great, fun, smart, and talented group of 6 and 7 year olds. Chairs are a thing of the past, and flexible seating is coming to our classroom! While my group of students is awesome, they are very busy as well! We would love to get more flexible seating in our classroom. Our room is on the smaller side, so we need yoga ball chairs and stools so they can easily be stored like chairs. For my students who would be a little too distracted by a yoga ball or stool, I believe the cushions will be the best option for them. When you donate to this project, you are giving my students the option to have a seat that is best for them and their learning style. Some of my children learn best sitting on the floor, while bouncing on yoga balls, standing up, or sitting on a pillow. I want my classroom to be as comfortable as possible. Children learn more when they feel comfortable in their learning environment.
