My students need chair pockets to hold their supplies because we have tables in our classroom and not desks.

My Students
Our school is a Title I school in an urban school district. Our school is not large and services students that are 100% eligible for free/reduced lunch. This means that many of my students do not have access to supplies and resources that will help them practice the skills learned in school. Even though there may be challenging home and neighborhood issues, my students come to school everyday eager to learn. They enjoy attending school for the academic and social interactions.
It is essential that they have basic technology, math, and literacy skills in order to survive in today's world and be competitive in the workplace.
In addition to being economically disadvantaged, these 1st grade regular and special education students also have emotional needs that require frequent and varied activity in the classroom. Small groups of students rotate between working with me and on their own for literacy and math. We receive ZERO supplies to support instruction and our activities. I have an amazing group of students who deserve a chance at being the best they can be. In order to be the best they need supplies to get started.
My Project
Students will have their supplies on the back of their seats for them to quickly access during instruction. The chair pockets will hold their pencils, markers, white boards, crayons, glue stick, erasers, notebooks, and any item they may need to use for our projects. Having the students use chair pockets rather than grouping the supplies will minimize disruptive movement and allow our students to take responsibility for their supplies.
Your donation to our project will help our students easily access the tools they need to complete their projects while staying focus.
Having the chair pockets will also teach them to be responsible by making sure they keep their supplies in their chair pockets when they are not using them. Help create a lasting impact on our classroom by cultivating the ideal learning environment for our first grade students!
