This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning we start off the day with morning work. Students stagger into class and begin using their materials to get started on a review activity for the day.

My kindergarten students come from very different backgrounds, but most are socially and economically disadvantaged. They are very sweet children and thankful for anything they receive. They work hard each and every day to be successful students and citizens in our school.

My Project

I am requesting seat sacks to help my students develop their organizational skills. The seat sacks will hold their school supplies, class workbooks, and their reading books. These are tools that are used throughout the school day and it is important that the students can access them quickly. Since we use tables in kindergarten, chair pockets are a great way for the children to store their belongings. In kindergarten, students are learning how to become responsible and how to keep themselves organized and the chair pockets will allows students to do so.

These seat sacks will last many years and instill habits that last for students' entire academic and professional careers.

The students of our school are capable and lovable and it’s my job to teach them the skills they will need and the potential they have to better their community and themselves.
