Help me give my students engaging, self correcting, hands-on, and meaningful learning centers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Oulton's classroom raised $441
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are energetic, creative and full of life. For most of them, kindergarten is their first experience in a school setting. They enter the classroom ready to learn, explore and discover.
I teach at a Title I school so many of my students come from low-income households.
They may not have all the resources that some students have, but they don't let that stop them! In my classroom, you will find tomorrow's brightest doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers and whatever else they dream of becoming.
Trust me when I say, it is one of the greatest joys to be a part of their success. If you could only see how they beam with joy as they proudly learn to identify letters and begin to write.
My Project
My students need engaging centers that are self-correcting so they can do it independently. The majority of the centers I selected allow them to correct their errors without help from the teacher. How awesome is that!
By supporting this project, you are supporting my student's learning development in letter recognition, identifying letter sounds, first sound fluency, and reading cvc words.
The centers include puzzles, manipulatives, locks and keys, and jumbo dice. Centers like this keep my students engaged and excited about what they are learning. One item that I am really excited about is the set of first sound puzzles. They will be able to pick out two letter sounds and sort the words between the two puzzles. I did paper versions of this activity this year and found that they made many errors that I wasn't able to correct so they reinforced incorrect skills. These puzzles will make sure that their errors are corrected so they can be more successful with this incredibly important pre-emergent literacy skill.
I also ordered a full class set of 3D shapes. My students really struggled with 3D shapes this year because I had a hard time finding manipulatives of cones and cylinders for the whole class. With this resource, they won't get tripped up next year!
More than half of students from low‑income households
