My students live in a rural Texas town. We are a low socio-economic school. English is a second language for many of the students in my class. Many of these students have limited resources at home and very few life experiences. Many have not traveled outside of our little town.
These energetic second graders come to school everyday so eager to learn!
They love to read, use technology, problem solve and make friends. And I love giving them the best educational experiences, materials and resources that I possibly can.
My Project
The ink, card stock and construction paper that I am requesting will help provide many learning opportunities for my students. We will be able to make learning fun by creating games and activities for use during center time.
Kids learn better when they are highly engaged and these supplies will enable us to make the content highly engaging.
The ready-made centers are bright and colorful. They will provide some much needed phonics and reading practice but in a game-like format. The students will be working together to master some difficult concepts, but it will not feel like work. It will feel like FUN!
More than half of students from low‑income households
