Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All my students desire to learn to become fluent in reading and math. My students are struggling readers/ mathematicians and they would love to have these activities that will support their everyday needs as they yearn to learn and explore the skills of reading and math.
I have 32 English language learners (ELLs) and they always love the opportunity to learn and put sounds together and build upon math skills.
These phonics activities will continue enhancing the print-rich classroom I strive to create. My ELLs need a lot of support with visuals and these activities will help them as they strive to become independent readers. My classroom is a place that my students enjoy. I read to them in our meeting area, many complete works there, and they read independently! Every activity that is placed in our centers is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunity to learn through playing. All of these phonics/math activities such as four-letter word puzzles and build-a-word phonics activity have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school trying so hard to put words together and try to stretch out words. Students will be able to complete these phonics/math activities, which will support students in continuing to build upon their skills to help them become successful learners.
