My Students
My students are fourth graders who have grown up in North Tulsa, Oklahoma. My students will work hard to develop multiple aspects of themselves because, we got GRIT, we don't quit! Students in my class show grit by working hard with tasks that are given because they want to complete it to the best of their ability. They believe that the things they are being taught in class are beneficial. They also use their personal future goals to motivate them to work hard on the task at hand because they see the connection between what they are doing in class and the things they want to achieve later in life.
My Project
Students love being able to practice new skills with fun and interesting material. Using learning centers is a great way for students to reinforce new concepts and learn new ways to problem solve.
In order to foster a productive student-centered classroom, it is crucial that students are given independence and learn responsibility.
Using centers such as math folder games, comprehension quickie cards and high-interest reading folders, students are able to explore different options to help them reach their goals. Also, students are able to check some of ther work using an Echo Dot kids edition. This also allows students to work on positive peer-to-peer interactions by asking questions and working together to solve problems. Comprehension intervention as well as math games give students instant feedback. This builds their levels of investment learning new concepts inside and outside of the classroom.
