Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Is it possible to be competitive in the 21st century, if you are not completely up-to-date with all of the latest technology? Our students are learning at their highest level and the addition of a few more computers to our classroom would enhance their individual learning needs.

Our third grade classroom has twenty six students and is located in Queens, New York.

There are different learning and behavioral needs in our ICT classroom but the general atmosphere is an exciting Project Based Environment. Our third grade class is in desperate need of computers. Currently the class shares computers with the entire school community. Not having daily access to computers creates a problem for teachers to plan lessons using visual resources. Our school subscribes to valuable educational websites that our children will benefit greatly if they have daily access.

My Project

Chromebooks are a wonderful resource that make technology skills and the Internet more accessible. With Chromebooks, our students will have quick and simple access to the online resources right in the classroom. The Chromebooks will help enrich the education of a diverse population of learners in the classroom. We would quickly and easily get access to educational math and language arts websites like RAZ Kids (and individualized reading web based application), Dreambox (another individualized, adaptive web based app) and other resources like keyboarding skills, research sites, etc. These resources would allow our students to access the internet for extra practice, reteaching, and enrichment.

Access to computers would allow for the children to interact with software as well as improve the dynamics between teachers and students.

It allows for project based learning in small groups from which students with various learning needs greatly benefit. Computers in the classroom would not replace children's experience with objects and materials but they will expand the range of tools with which children can seek information, solve problems and learn at their own pace.
