This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Center time is part of the school day all students look forward to having. The hard part of centers is keeping things organized and orderly so we do not have to waste time locating the materials for the centers.
As a third grade teacher, I need to make sure all my students get help and practice on all the required skills that I have taught to them.
I do this by having center time with my class. During center time I pull my students into small groups and work with the on skills they are struggling with, need extra help with, or giving them advanced activities to ensure that all students needs are being meet. Without the use of centers, I would not be able to pull these small groups. While I am working with one group of 4 or 5 students the rest of my classes gets to engage in fun, educational activities that reinforce, reteach or provide practice in the skills we are covering in class. Since the centers are student groups I need to make sure the materials are organized and ready to go. This can cause some problems when students do not have a place to get or put the materials before and after they are done using them. That is why I am asking for these materials for my center time.
My Project
There caddies and labels will help my student keep the materials in one place so they are ready for a second group of students to use when the first group in finished. They will also help me as a teacher get setup and get organized as I prepare for the weekly centers. Unorganized materials can be difficult for students to use. Students may have to use a good chunk of their center time organizing the materials so they can do the activity. With the caddies, the group leader can grab a caddy for the group and they can get started. Then they can put all the materials back into the caddy so that they center is ready for the next group. Organization can make or break center time. When students are engaged in the activities, teachers are not interrupted and can keep focused on the small group they are working with at the time and lesson time on getting students started.
So I am asking you to please consider donation to my project that will help us all stay organized and prepared for center time each day.
Thank you for your generosity and support my students will be very grateful for your kindness and help.
