My Project
I teach at a Title I school in which 76% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. About 40% of my students are English Language Learners (ELL). In addition, some of my students have special needs that require them to have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to help them meet their learning goals.
Although many of my students face adversity, their challenges do not define their ability to learn and be successful students.
My students enjoy reading books, learning new math skills, and writing stories. They are literally like sponges and soak up every new skill that is introduced to them. Their desire to learn despite the obstacles they often face is nothing short of amazing! I want to provide a safe, nurturing, engaging, and challenging learning environment for my students during one of the most important years of their school experience. As a Kindergarten teacher, it is my responsibility to provide an enriching foundation for my students to help them be successful in their future years of schooling.
In order to keep all of my learners actively engaged during their Independent Reading and Math Centers Time each day, I am in need of a shelving unit and storage tubs to help students organize and easily access their supplies and materials. These will not only allow students to become more independent learners, but they will make learning both hands-on and fun for all!
By supporting this project, you can help instill a lifelong love of learning in my students. In addition, your support will help me provide my students with the learning experiences that each of them needs in order to be successful learners.
