My Students
My school is a Title I school, with the majority of my students living in poverty. My class is made up of 18 hardworking and kind students. My kindergarten students are always excited about literacy and math games that involve what we're learning! Many of my students have never been to a structured environment setting before, so I would like to provide them with the most fun and engaging learning environment that I can.
My students enjoy cooperative challenges in which they are able to build and interact with materials in a hands-on way.
These materials will enrich the learning of my students all year long. When students have appropriate games and activities, their learning is endless. It is my goal to continue to provide my students with a multitude of options for reading and math centers!
My Project
The items I am requesting are fantastic math and reading manipulatives, center materials, and puzzles that will let my students interact with the skills they are acquiring in a hands-on and developmentally appropriate way.
Center time is a high interest time, and for many of my students, it is the highlight of their school day.
During center time, my students are given an opportunity to explore different materials that interest them. The Magna-tiles will allow the students to build shapes and interact with math in a hands-on way. These manipulatives are magnetic and along with teaching the students about shapes and how shapes can build other shapes, it also lets them interact with science and how magnets draw things together. I am also requesting math and reading center materials such as numbers locks (1-20), sight word puzzles, sequencing puzzles, simple word locks, and word building puzzles. This project will give my students access to learning materials that they cannot have access to anywhere else.
