My Students
Kindergarten is where students should receive a firm educational foundation that can be built upon in coming years and grades. Regardless of where my students enter, my goal is for them to be ready for first grade and beyond when they leave. Providing hands-on learning opportunities is challenging.
My students are typical five and six year old scholars who are inquisitive and eager to learn about the world around them.
Like sponges, they are ready to absorb all the knowledge they meet.
My school is a diversely populated urban PK-5 neighborhood school with limited resources. However, the atmosphere is one of academic excellence. Lessons are taught with rigor to support and extend the Common Core even at the kindergarten level. We believe in student achievement and strive to provide students with ample opportunities to experience success. Believing that all children can learn, as a staff, we meet the students where they are and guide them to reaching their full potential. Student involvement and hands-on learning are key components in students achieving at high levels.
My Project
My students need materials for learning centers including Wireless Eggspert, Can Do!, Motion Discovery Kit, Count and Link, and Sound-It-Out Word Stretchers. The learning center activities will provide opportunities for students to experience success through differentiated practice, individual practice, and small group interactions. The selected materials focus on the core subjects - Reading and Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. These materials are ready-made and can easily become a part of the classroom. Routines and procedures are in place to facilitate the effective use of these materials.
Donations to this project will provide my students with hands-on activities to enhance their learning experiences.
My students' lives will be changed for the better in the successful building of a firm educational foundation to be built upon in subsequent years.
