This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With nineteen students, each with their own individual personality, coming to school every day is truly an adventure!

"I love coming to school, Mrs. T!"

Located in a low-income neighborhood, many of my students love coming to school, getting breakfast and a warm lunch while learning about different things throughout the day. Not only do they get the structure they desire, but they get to interact with their peers while learning SEL skills that they will take with them into adulthood.

My desire is to support my students in all that they do, provide a fun and creative work environment and teach them the skills to be the best possible student they can be.

My Project

Being a new teacher can mean starting from square one in the classroom. Adding manipulatives, center choices, and STEM blocks can help students gain independence during center time and allow for creative thinking and understanding. The materials I’ve added to my Donor’sChoose list are not only able to support students during their math and literacy centers, but can bridge the gap between having to learn and wanting to learn.

Being able to play and engage in center activities is an important part of students gaining independence and self-confidence throughout school.

Different center options for students to choose from helps students to develop their decision making ability. It also supports students making connections and discovering new ways of looking at something.
