Cello Rack for School Instruments

My students need storage for their instruments. This rack would be used to store and maintain school cellos. We want to take good care of the instruments that we know we are fortunate to have.

My Students

I teach in a classroom where we are excited about what we do.

We are expressive, critical thinkers.

We take risks, we learn from our mistakes, and we celebrate our successes. I teach orchestra. In grades 6-8, there are over 250 orchestra students between two buildings in my district. We are aspiring learners and musicians. We are excited about what we do, and we use music to explore history, science, literacy, and other arts. My students are racially and socioeconomically diverse. But they all have one thing in common... they are aspiring musicians.

My Project

Our orchestra program has nearly doubled in size over the last ten years. So many young students aspire to be orchestral musicians!

Quality instruments can only remain such if they are well taken care of.

We are fortunate in that we currently have enough instruments so that any child with a financial need is able to play a school-owned instrument. Some of these instruments came through DonorsChoose! However, we do not have adequate storage. We want to maintain the instruments that we currently have, and without enough racks to hold cellos, we worry that our instruments will be damaged.

A cello rack for our classroom will help ensure that the instruments we have been so fortunate to obtain--from music stores, administrators, parents, and anonymous donors that support us--will be well maintained and used by young musicians for years to come.
