My Project
My Students
I teach German to grades 7-12 with a focus on listening, reading, speaking, and writing every day, but also mix in an abundance of cultural projects.
My students come from all over San Diego, as they are very engaged in Music, Sports, Dancing, Acting, as well as many other passions. They are very motivated and come to class prepared and have been reading, writing, and listening to German all year long. I love how hard they work, how engaged they are, and the great attitude they bring every day!
We have celebrated a few traditions already this school year, and will be having a German, Swiss, and Austrian Cookie festival in January. Our next big project is to create masks and large lanterns for a festival which is celebrated in the Germanic countries. My father came from Basel, Switzerland, and I experienced the Basel Fasnacht one time, and it was so much fun.
We will be parading with our masks and lanterns around school in March of 2025, and will also enter the Talent Show in April which our school puts on every year. It was great fun in March of 2024. The students also create the soundtrack for the parade, and some of them march with violins, flutes, clarinets, and drums and play along. We spend about 3 months preparing for the big event at the talent show!
It will be a lot of fun, and with your help we will be able to make some amazing Masks and Lanterns.
