Celebrating the Chinese New Year by Making Dragon Masks!

Help me give my students acrylic paints, brushes, watercolor paper, Sharpies and craft glue, watercolor paints, scissors, and more to create their beautiful Chinese New Year Dragon Masks!

My Project

In celebration of the Chinese New Year, my art students will be looking to create a series of art projects as our Chinese Cultural Unit gets underway- starting with making awesome dragon masks! And that's where you and your donation can help!

Through your generous donation towards this project, we will be able to purchase acrylic paints, brushes, watercolor papers, Sharpies, craft glues, crayons, and more to use in the creation of our dragon mask pieces!

We are always looking for creative and meaningful projects to do in my art class, with many having deep roots in cultures, peoples, and time periods found throughout the world. We explore the significance of symbolism in art while we make cultural connections and what better way to do this than bringing the dragon to life? Long known for being benevolent and wise, Chinese dragons are also powerful, dangerous, and respected beasts with inherently good qualities. Known for bringing good fortune, supernatural power, wisdom, strength, and hidden knowledge even in the midst of relative chaos and untamed nature and beauty, I can already tell this project is going to be a fan favorite with my students. What better way to commemorate the Chinese New Year than making these dragon masks?

Sure to be a hit and enjoyable project to create, please help me bring this experience to my classroom and to my students. Any donation you make will be used to give them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn and grow and see the world around them in a different light!
