Help me give my students a hands-on opportunity to create their very own flag tee shirts to help celebrate Flag Day this year. Our students learn through visual learning and this will enhance their way of learning.
I teach Social Studies to middle school special needs students located in Staten Island, NY. Many of my students have Autism and other disabilities and some are economically disadvantaged. Our students are culturally diverse and all receive free lunch. Many of my students love to learn through hands-on experiences. I am collaborating this project with Ms. Melanie and Ms. Sarah, our speech teachers. We are eager to teach our students about the history of America and Flag Day. Students will create flag t-shirts for them to wear while filming a video of them reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Using a Cricut machine, the students will make iron-on cuts to create their t-shirts. This would be an amazing hands on project for our students and give them the accomplishment of an end project, wearing their Flag Day t-shirts.
My Project
My students love to create hands-on projects! We will be making Flag Day T-shirts. Students will make American Flag iron-on cut-outs using a Cricut Machine.
Collaborating with our speech teachers, our goal is to make a video having the students recite the Pledge of Allegiance wearing the American Flag T-shirts they created.
Our students will learn about the history of the flag, as well as, create their very own American Flag T-shirt. This project will give our students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge about America's history and give them their very own creation of making an American Flag T-shirt.
