My Students

My virtual classroom is a kindergarten classroom that has curious, fun, energetic students. Since we are not going to be in the classroom to start school, students do not have access to literature or the opportunity to have someone read to them. I would like to be able to support them through this project.

In my classroom, I strive to create a positive learning environment that celebrates differences and makes all of my students feel comfortable and excited to learn!

The students in my classroom represent many different cultures, languages, and ethnic groups and we work everyday to support each individual student in their journey.

My Project

With the evolving world around us, I would like to expand my classroom library. All students deserve to read books with characters that represent who they are as people. I want my students to have a classroom library they can relate too. The books I have chosen include characters who have experiences from diverse cultures, backgrounds, families, and disabilities.

It is important for all students to be exposed to diverse perspectives and one of the best ways to do that is through the books they read.

These books will serve as windows and mirrors for my students: through windows students see diverse perspectives and cultures and in mirrors students see their own experiences and culture reflected. Both are vital to producing educated, empathetic, and responsible citizens.
