Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classes consist of middle school English Language Learners at various academic levels at a Title I school. They are part of the Environmental Studies through Arts and Science Magnet and look forward to working with their classmates in groups. As English Language Learners they need as many discussion opportunities as possible. I'd like to continue promoting the love of reading and literature circles, while distance learning. Having access to novels will also help promote my school's literacy goal.

My Project

With the ongoing issues we are currently dealing with, these novels will give my students the sense of acceptance they need during this crucial time. Being able to relate and see themselves in books will help with our discussion of their past, present and future as a diverse group.

These books are instrumental in creating an appreciation for other cultures, as we will learn of diverse characters, who like them have faced situations that have changed their lives forever.

Help me build their pride and get them to see the resiliency they've had all along.
