Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am reaching out to request support for a unique and enriching project aimed at fostering cultural understanding and celebrating diversity in my freshman English classes. After a captivating virtual journey through a Mexican museum for Día de Los Muertos, my students expressed a strong interest in exploring and sharing holiday traditions from different cultures.
The majority of my students expressed a desire to celebrate Christmas together and learn more about Hanukkah.
To create a festive and inclusive environment, we plan to decorate the classroom, set up a Christmas tree, and spend time socializing while listening to Christmas music. Additionally, we aim to delve into the historical, religious, and political influences of Christmas, la Noche Buena, and Hanukkah to deepen our understanding with the books purchased.
Your generous support will help us acquire the necessary resources, including educational materials, decorations, and treats, to make this cross-cultural celebration a memorable and educational experience for my students. By embracing various holiday traditions, we hope to promote unity, respect, and appreciation for diversity within our classroom community.
