Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher with 25 years of experience, I have seen firsthand the power of inclusion and representation in a student's learning journey. This year, I have been assigned a new role as an 3rd grade class with immigrant students. In this role, I am committed to ensuring that every student, no matter their background or culture, feels seen, valued, and heard in our classroom. To achieve this, I am proposing a project that will celebrate the diversity of our students through creative expression, allowing them to create art projects that reflect their unique cultural backgrounds.

These projects will serve as a powerful tool for building for community as students will learn to use technology, like a printer and a laminator to create projects and stories.

This and fostering empathy among all students. Each student will be encouraged to create an book project that reflects their cultural background, traditions, or heritage. By allowing students to explore and share their culture, we will honor and celebrate their identities via a book about themselves. Through this project, students will learn about and appreciate the diverse cultures in our classroom. By sharing their projects with one another, they will gain a deeper understanding of their peers and form stronger connections.

The project will provide students with the opportunity to express themselves creatively and gain confidence in sharing their stories and experiences. Students will work together to learn about each other's cultures and create a collaborative display that represents the diversity of the class. This project will culminate in a classroom exhibition where students will showcase their work and explain the meaning behind their creations.
