Celebrating 100 Days of Learning With Counting and Creativity
Help me give my students a blacklight, stickers, bubble solution, soap, lacing tipped yarn, neon markers, 100th day themed awards, goodie bags, glasses and party favors for a 100th day of school celebration they will never forget.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
On the first day of school, these four year olds could have never imagined all they would do and learn this year. As the year unfolds and the students explore, learn and grow, I glow with pride in their achievements, accomplishments and progress.
In just a few months we will encounter the truly magnificent milestone of 100 days of growing and learning together; to celebrate this achievement, I would love to immerse the students into the theme of 100 days brighter with science, math, art, literacy and sensory activities throughout the day.
Students will count to 100 until their hearts are content. They will place 100 gum-ball stickers onto the gum ball craft in this project, and they will count out 100 beads to lace onto their yarn necklaces. Under the glow of the blacklight, they will use the neon markers and star stickers to decorate their 100th day goodie bags and then fill them with 100 pieces of snack treats for snack time. They will experience the science of mixing and creating giant bubbles to celebrate their giant achievements, and they will wear their 100th day glasses and medals to show off their achievements.
When many students were reluctant to leave their parents side on the first day of school, the thought of joyfully bounding into the classroom each morning to learn and grow with a group of friends they look forward to seeing each day seemed nearly impossible. But here we are, scientists, mathematicians, readers and more. This is definitely worth celebrating and what better way to celebrate than to experiment with bubble, count until our heart is content and create in the magical glow of the blacklight.
