This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a proud 1st generation Chinese-American, I look forward to sharing my culture with my students each year. They get to hear my story of how I was bullied and ashamed of my culture as a child, but grew to love and appreciate it.

The rods, cardstock, tissue paper, and twine will be used to make paper dragons for a parade at school, taught the same way my mother made them in Vietnam.

The books and paper dragons will be used to educate students on the background of Lunar New Year and can be a tool to share with their families at home.

My partners in education on my 4th Grade team all want to help share my culture and celebrate the New Lunar Year with me, so these supplies will help over 85 students!
