This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every school day counts in a child's academic life... A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. One strategy for improving attendance is engaging students, parents, educators, and community members in a campaign that offers positive rewards for attending.

School attendance is a simple, easily understood measure of student performance.

We use incentives to create a school-wide culture of attendance accompanied by a deep commitment to ensuring students are engaged in the classroom once they show up. Perfect attendance is not our goal since it is not wise to encourage children to come to school when they’re sick. Instead, we reward students monthly that attend at least 80% of the month. We also reward students for improved attendance.

We will use the Dippin' Dots ice cream to reward students for their attendance/attendance improvement in school.

Dippin' Dots have to be kept at -40 degrees in order to keep their shape. A home freezer (even a chest freezer) does not get that cold. The freezer will allow us to keep the Dippin' Dots cold enough to keep it's round shape.
