My students need these desks....CPS has not updated classroom furniture since the 1980's and no student should have to work at unsafe work stations.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at my school are wonderful. They strive to be the best with limited resources. CPS has not invested in purchasing outdated and crumbling furniture in over 30 years.
As an 8th grade Language Arts/Reading teacher, I have assessed students in my grade to be at the 7th-11th grade reading level.
Most of the furniture in my school is from the 1980's and CPS has not had the funds nor has made furniture a priority in the past 30 years. The desks are in horrible shape and are constantly falling apart. Most are in a state of disrepair. My students deserve better than this. Won't you please help?
My Project
The furniture in most CPS buildings is between 30-40 years old. CPS has not made it a priority to fund replacement items due to a lack of funds. Would you ask a doctor, lawyer, or any other professional to do their job without the necessary tools? Then why do we do this with today's youth? Aren't they worth more than this? I think it is preposterous to ask students to work, and successfully, with furniture that is prone to falling while completing assignments. We would be most appreciative of your donation to help us replace out some of the furniture in our classroom.
