My Project

My pre-k students love to create master pieces in the art center. One of their favorite activities is to create original pieces of art with various collage materials. Collage art projects are an engaging, open-ended form of process art. As the school year progresses, our collage materials become limited or even depleted. I am requesting a variety of crafting supplies, such as collage materials, magic craft puffs and stickers to keep them using their imaginations and creating 2-D & 3-D art pieces!

Through collage art, young children are encouraged to explore self-expression by making choices and using their imagination freely.

This approach lets them make decisions without adult interference, fostering a strong sense of ownership over their work. Collage art is a simple yet impactful craft activity where children glue paper, recycled items, or natural materials to a base. It provides endless opportunities for creative expression without the need for specific instructions, which can encourage children to follow their natural curiosity and express their unique perspectives. These activities help children develop creativity, independence, and fine motor skills while allowing them to make choices and explore materials in a relaxed environment. Collage art is also a fantastic activity to encourage children to develop their descriptive language. There’s so much for kids to talk about when they create: new textures, sparkling sequins, sticky glue, soft feathers, colorful jewels, bendy pipe cleaners.

Best practice guidelines for pre-k state that a variety of materials should be available to children every day for creating both 2-D and 3-D art. Thank you for helping us provide the best tools for our children!
