My students need cause and effect toys to begin their exploration in toys to increase their social and play skills. My students need sensory toys to help with self-regulation and behavior management.
Walking into a Title One school in Utah the first day of school what do you think you will see? Well, in my class, you will see diversity. My students are very diverse not only by their race but by their disabilities as well. I have students who are from Nepal, Africa, Mexico, and many more places as well. My students would be considered to be in the socioeconomic class. It may be hard for them to purchase basic school supplies. Not only basic school supplies my students are need of cause and effect and sensory toys because of my students' special needs.
As you can see that I am teaching in a classroom that has students with disabilities that have autism, multiple disabilities, or developmental delays.
Being in a title one school we don’t have the equipment to help our student with disabilities to learn beginning play skills.
My Project
Research shows how important play is in early childhood development. My students are in the very beginning stages of play. By having the Mirari Pop! Pop! Piano Toy, TOMY Wacky Racers, and Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Boppin' Activity Bugs, these items will help my students learn how to use cause and effect toys that will help them with exploration and discovery and to start to build on their play skills. LeapFrog Scout's Count & Colors Band will help my students with color and number recognition, starting to count object, and help my students learn how to take turns to increase their social skills.
Donating these items will help my students increase their social and play skills to succeed in the classroom.
Sensory toys such as RELAX RENEW RELEASE Squeeze Ball, Puffer and Fidget Toy Sensory Stimulation Bundle, Hedstrom Sensory Shapes, 6-Pack, Set of 3! Tangle Jr. Original Fidget Toy, and Super Z Outlet Liquid Motion Bubbler for Sensory Play, Fidget Toy, Children Activity, Desk Top, Assorted Color will help them be able to self-regulate, help with behavior management, and using these items for positive reinforcers.
