Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarteners are full of energy and enthusiasm. They are curious about the world around them. They enjoy coming to school and love learning new things each day. They are learning to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. They are also becoming a class of readers and writers.
I teach children with special needs in a micro inclusion Kindergarten classroom in East Harlem.
My co-teacher and I work with a diverse group of families, many of whom have limited language and proficient literacy skills.
Engaging young learners and having them be active participants in a lesson can be difficult at times. Through many years of teaching, I have observed that children learn best when using technology as a tool that facilitates their own learning and increases their ability to retain that information.
My Project
In the area of literacy, this camera will allow me to present small copies of fiction or nonfiction books into big books that students can fully explore and engage in by looking closely at details, noticing the pictures and words more clearly.
In writing, the document camera can be used to project my demo writing samples, so that students can see my modeling and learn from it.
While displaying the camera's image, we can use the Smartboard tools to highlight and turn the document into an interactive experience. I can also display model writing pieces from students that the class can enjoy and learn from.
