Catch Up After Covid

Help me give my students some opportunities to catch up on their reading and emotional intelligence skills with Spot Emotions books, feelings blocks, and Touch and Read phonics sets.

My Students

Our class is a functional skills class teaching children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, which can affect social opportunities and functional daily living skills. Our class is part of a larger school that serves kids all over the valley in Utah County, Utah that are on the spectrum or have similar diagnoses'.

These students are so amazing and deserve to have the opportunities that their peers have.

We value every student and want to give them the tools they need to succeed in order to function appropriately in our community and be able to actively participate in it when they graduate from school.

In my classroom, we won't just count the days, but make the days count!

My Project

My students in my classroom all have learning disabilities, and so with in-home learning, it wasn't very feasible for them to continue on the same learning trajectory without being in school physically.

Emotional intelligence is something they learn with their peers, and being confined really took a toll on each child's social abilities.

This project will also really help some of my students catch up in their language and reading abilities, as distance learning caused most of them to fall behind. My students deserve to have the opportunities to work and learn these things in the classroom!
