My Students
"Small minds with big ideas."
I currently teach at an extremely poor Title I school in the city of Chicago where I feel I have learned more from the students than they have from me.
As a first year teacher, I was fortunate enough to receive this job. Although, it has been extremely difficult to educate students without the necessary supplies, yet, our students still come to school eager to learn. Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching materials and if there is, funds are used for the upper grades. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials. Therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning, so my students can succeed in life, in and out of the classroom.
My Project
I am asking for chair pockets to provide additional storage space for my students. My students are avid readers and writers and require the extra space to store their books. They enjoy keeping themselves busy as we transition from subject to subject and waste little to no time. They are quick and eager to pull out their books or journals. My students use these chair pockets throughout the entire school year proving to be as essential as a pencil.
I want my students to have everything they need to succeed not only within our classroom, but outside of it as well.
Through these donations, my students will have materials that will motivate and enhance their learning. It will allow them to excel and receive the best education that they can possibly get.
