Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students are from a community and school with limited resources. The music program has no budget, and yet we get through the year with donations. Many of my students rehearse almost every day, after school, to supplement the time they may have during class. Students prefer to stay in the music room before class, during lunch, and late after school.
My students are a mixture of 9th through 12th graders who are eager learners and members of the Marching Band in our school's music program.
My Project
Many of our instruments are old and in need of replacement, but we don't have the budget for it. Our best choice is to provide good protection so that these instruments can last us for many years to come. Many of our cases are falling apart and aren't doing a good job of protecting the instruments. Some instruments are built better than new ones and we would like to keep using them.
Getting new cases will ensure that we can keep our older instruments in good playing order for our current and future students to come.
Our advanced instrumentalists are the most dedicated students in our program. My students will be able to take their instruments home to practice, knowing that their trumpet, saxophone, or clarinet will be safe.
