My Students
First graders are eager to learn and are full of energy. I have a diverse group of children with many strengths and areas of growth, both academic and social. Our classroom needs to meet their needs with a welcoming environment, engaging learning, comfortable seating, and a plethora of reading materials.
We need to foster children's love of learning!

My Project
First graders are wiggly. In order to keep students engaged, our lessons are short and numerous. As we learn, we utilize our whole group carpet area and our individual desks. Our carpet has distinct areas to show each students where to sit. Current;y, we do not have a rug. The students are doing their best making their own rows that can sometimes be a challenge to stay in one stop to keep focused.
We need a distinct carpet area for read-alouds and whole group activities.
Students love to sit on the carpet. We attempt to sit in rows for read-alouds or lessons. We sit in a circle for class meetings and discussions. The carpet is a vital part of our classroom. A carpet would make transitions quicker and easier.
