Help me give my students comfortable and enjoyable seating while doing whole group, mini-lessons, and cooperative learning. They need a classroom carpet.
The students are eager and willing to learn despite the many challenges that they face in and out of the classroom. They live and go to school in a low-income neighborhood and lack the materials and supplies needed to be successful in school. Many of the students do not have books of their own to read at home or the basic supplies to complete their homework.
90% of my class is reading below a second grade level.
We are an Investment School in Cleveland, Ohio. Investment schools are the lowest 10-15 percent of schools in the district that call for immediate and dramatic action. This network of Investment Schools represents not only our clearest need, but also our greatest opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students. The majority of the entire school is performing at least 1-2 grade levels below grade level. Despite their challenges, they are eager and ready to learn!
My Project
The carpet provides cozy, flexible seating for reading, classroom activities and more. The bright and inviting carpets feature big, bold, extra-roomy squares that give each child their very own space to sit! Plus, the color-coded rows make it incredibly easy to divide the class into groups.
The donation of a classroom rug will give them their own personal space, increase concentration and learning as well as allow them an inviting space to get comfortable and spend time working on activities!
Our classroom would love to have a washable carpet. It's a space where where story time happens. We do our writing and reading lessons there. We build and engineer our greatest block creations on the carpet. We solve puzzles, talk to our partners, and do small group work on the carpet.
