My Students

My third graders are learning to love reading! I have students with various special needs including visual, ADHD, Autism, and behavioral disorders. My school is located in Burlington, Wisconsin. We have 400+ students in our school. This year's goal for third grade is to incorporate reading into our children's everyday life by encouraging the love of reading. We will be using Reader's Workshop which requires many books and special seats for the diverse learners in my classroom. The main goal is to make reading fun!

My Project

All of our students want to become great readers in third grade. Our current carpet is in sad shape and is falling apart around the edges. In class we use the carpet as a meeting spot for instruction, as well as a place to gather and read. As students progress in reading, they will be able to achieve at a higher level throughout their lives. Our goal in third grade is to become lifelong readers. We work on these skills by building our stamina. A new carpet will enhance the environment in our classroom, as well as provide an area to gather and read.
