My Project
Classroom rugs are a luxury item for a public elementary school, meaning they only get replaced about once every 10 years. If you have ever been around kids, you known 10 years will leave you with a rug that no one wants to sit on! It's officially time to replace my classroom rugs, but it is not currently in our school's budget for a few more years.
The rug is the heart of the classroom, it's what makes the classroom feel like home.
It's where we meet as a classroom family throughout the day.
The new classroom rug will allow students to spread out comfortably, so everyone has their own personal space. Rather than learn from their desk, all students can now be comfy on the rug during whole group instruction, morning songs, read-alouds, interactive assignments, partner/group collaboration, and much, much more. We do a lot of map work in 3rd grade, including learning the continents and the oceans. This rug will be an amazing tool for us to use as we explore the world!
The handwriting rug will go in our classroom library and also allow students to see how to form their cursive letters, which is something new we learn in 3rd grade! Not only will be it provide a comfy reading spot, it will also be a learning tool!
