"I'm squished!" is a constant complaint among our students when on the rug. My students are currently sitting on a carpet that has been in the classroom for many years now and is very small. Due to the enlarged class sizes, it is difficult to seat all the students on the rug comfortably.
I currently teach a class of 29 energetic, enthusiastic, and inquisitive 2nd grade students.
Our public school is located in a high-need community. Over 75% of our students receive free lunches. We are in constant needs of supplies and materials. Now, we are in need of space!! My students are taught lessons on the rug. Our current rug is too small for the amount of students that are in our class. They all say that they are "squished!" together. This rug would provide the students a sense of personal space on the rug which in turn will help them pay attention more in class. I feel that this will promote their academic experience.
My Project
Our students really need this rug. It will enrich their academic experience. They will have a chance to have their own space and focus on learning! It is important for a student to feel comfortable in their own classroom at all times. This will promote their education.
This rug will provide them will needed space.
