My Project

My Project

Each year, I strive to put a book in each student's hand that will change the way they view reading.

Some students come to my class already feeling passionate about the printed page--most do not. In the wake of the pandemic lockdowns and distance learning, and the more recent development of generative AI for all, reluctant readers are more reluctant than ever.

Most students just need that spark--that theme that excites them, that character they relate to.

My goal is to collect a wide range of books so that all of my students may find that spark.

Each day, when students arrive at my classroom, they are invited to lose themselves in a book. There are no restrictions or guidelines for these selections; they are free to choose that which they love. I only ask that they commit themselves to learning and commit themselves to growth. This project will help me fill my shelves with a variety of genres so that I have something to offer each of my students.
