This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a great group of 5th graders. They show up to Zoom class eager to learn but miss in the classroom learning. Online learning can be challenging when you don’t have the tools you need, this is the case for most of my students.
With all my students have to worry about at their young age, the least I want them to worry about is having school supplies.
My Project
With the schools being closed my students lost their access to the basic tools needed for learning. Furthermore, students can no longer share supplies, they therefore need their own materials and that can get expensive. My students need their own pencils, erasers, notebooks, scissors, glue sticks, etc. These supplies have always been limited, but now that caring is more about not sharing rather than sharing, students need their own supplies. These supplies will be used for learning at home and will help students stay safe when we return to school.
