Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My English language learner high school students are resilient, thoughtful young people who are navigating both the challenges of adolescence and the pressures of adjusting to life in a new country. Many come from low-income households and face daily obstacles that can make focusing on school incredibly difficult—especially when basic needs like hygiene and emotional well-being go unmet.
The goal of this project is to support my students not only academically, but emotionally and physically.
I am requesting a variety of self-care and hygiene supplies to create a safe, welcoming space where students can feel refreshed, confident, and ready to learn.
Hygiene products such as deodorant, toothpaste, period products, and body wipes will be available to students who may not have consistent access to these essentials at home. These items will help them feel clean and confident throughout the school day, allowing them to fully engage in class without worry or embarrassment.
Self-care tools like stress balls, journals, fidget items, and mindfulness activities will give students healthy ways to manage stress and anxiety—especially important for those adjusting to a new language, culture, and school system. These items will be used in a designated calm corner where students can take a short break to reset and refocus when overwhelmed.
By providing these resources, I hope to create a classroom environment where students feel cared for, valued, and supported in every way—not just as learners, but as whole people. Your donation will have a lasting impact by helping my students build confidence, improve focus, and feel a true sense of belonging.
