Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school celebrates diversity. We accept people as they are. We want students to belong and be proud of their cultural traditions.
Our district encourages everyone to accept people as they are.
All people are welcome, all cultures, all genders, all beliefs, all religions, all orientations, and all ages. The poster in this project will be a visual that encourages students to be respectful of others and celebrate diversity. This project also includes a variety of snacks that include chips, cookies, drinks and clear plastic bags.
My students are diverse and they celebrate different traditions. Giving students the opportunity to see this posters and talk about the importance of accepting others as they are will be great!
Giving gifts is a cultural tradition celebrated in many parts of the world. Having a selection of snacks and drinks that the students can pick from to make a gift will be wonderful. Students will take a plastic bag and make a treat bag that to give to another person.
Students will be encouraged to decide the amount of snacks to put in their treat bag, being mindful of the other students making a gift. Students will use post it notes we already have in class to write a caring message for the person to whom they will give the treat bag.
It will be exciting to hear students having conversations about accepting others and also talking about the value of giving gifts to other people. It will be exciting for students to talk about celebrating diversity and valuing people. They will also take the treat bag and experience the joy of gift giving.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
