Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This upcoming year I will have the privilege of moving from fourth grade all subjects to fifth grade English Language Arts and Science. I will have sixty-six energetic students, twenty-three of which are my current students. My classroom also includes many English Learners from many different countries. They really enjoy working together in small groups as well as with partners. My students love hands-on activities, projects, and anything messy.
They really thrive when they are able to be fully engaged in their learning activities.
They enjoy coming to school daily and always put their best foot forward! They work hard in everything they do and are always respectful of one another.
My Project
This past school year my class was blessed with donations to receive our classroom turtles, Koopa and Squirt. My students really enjoyed learning about them, feeding them, and taking care of their needs. Having the turtles in the classroom helped my students learn responsibility, respect for living beings, and how to share tasks with one another.
As a result of the care my students have given our turtles, they have grown in size and have now outgrown our classroom tank.
By having a new classroom aquarium, water heater, and turtle dock, my students will be able to continue to learn about and care for our classroom turtles.
