Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our elementary school is a Title I elementary school in Washington, D.C.'s Ward 5. Our Stallions are primarily African American or Hispanic/Latino students, and most qualify for a high amount of aid through non-profits and government programming. As educators, we understand the critical importance of fostering a positive atmosphere that promotes focus, curiosity, and joy in learning. The requested items will create a sense of calmness that will allow our students to concentrate better and engage more effectively in their learning journey. My mission is to instill a love for education in my young students and empower them to explore the world with confidence.
The fluorescent covers will lessen the intensity of the lights and reduce overstimulation.
Students will use the classroom caddies to streamline table organization and support personal responsibility & organization skills. New lamps and mood filters will provide a comforting environment, and the wobble chairs support our students’ nervous systems & improve concentration. Lastly, the sensory toys will provide a safe retreat so students can regulate their emotions and return to the learning environment feeling rejuvenated
